Hyland House, Dunedin

At the entrance to Dunedin from the North and just over the Water of the Leith on George Street, is 'Hyland House'. Constructed in 1911 as three large Terraced Houses this distinctive building was meticulously restored in 2002 and transformed into Fine Traditional Travellers Accommodation.

A total of ten luxury and spacious self-contained rooms now spoil discerning travellers and offer the very best of all conveniences along with the bygone charm of a unique Scottish heritage that is: Dunedin - The Edinburgh of the South. orgeously decorated with stylish colours and accessories, the rooms are top-of-the-line luxury. All rooms include exquisite fittings and furnishings, which retain the original beauty of the dwelling.

The rest of the dwelling has also been renovated. The staircases have been lovingly refurbished, as has the wooden panelling, feature ceilings and fireplaces throughout the house. The exterior has been left in the original sandstone plaster which once adorned so may of Dunedin's early buildings. The building also features its original slate roof and chimney along with copper spouting.

Hyland House is within a short walk of many cafes and restaurants, as well as Woodhaugh Gardens, the Water of the Leith, the Dunedin Botanic Garden, the Gardens shopping area and the University of Otago.
