Picture walls of stone aged by the centuries. Fresh and cosy rooms filled with ancient
and exotic furniture. Gardens of manicured lawns and olive trees. The scent of lavender
and rosemary filling the air. A swimming pool kissed by sunlight. Numerous paths
running through woods, down to the stream in the valley below. Aperitifs sipped on a
verandah watching the setting sun. Candle-lit dinners, and calm nights under a star filled
sky.
All around, just beyond our crown of hills stand Umbria’s many cities of art, abundant in
their treasures, their elegant shops and traditions. So near, so far away……..
You have a choice of 10 rooms all with private bathroom, each equally fresh and silent,
each different from one another. The furnishings adorning every room were all hand-
picked and brought back one by one from many distant journeys made by Paola and
Irish, the owners of the Locanda del Gallo. There is no air-conditioning, rooms are cooled by natural breezes softly blown through the trees. There is no television, nothing to disturb the peace and tranquillity.
Prominently situated on a ridge which stretches into the centre of the valley, The Locanda del Gallo commands fine views over its 28 hectares of gardens, terraced lawns and woodland. Stroll at leisure through the olive grove, inhale the scent of roses and herbs, or simply curl up with a book under the shade of the old elm tree. The gardens hold many hidden gems and secret corners for you to discover. In one, an ecological chlorine-free swimming pool, encircled by comfortable sun loungers and close by the sybaritic delight of an outdoor Jacuzzi whirlpool spa.
Organic tomatoes, salad leaves and vegetables from the kitchen garden. Olive oil from the olive grove, aromatic herbs from the garden, and home-made breads. (In the finest traditions of Mediterranean cuisine) everything natural, everything genuine, skilfully blended with just a hint of the orient by Jimmy, chef at the Locanda del Gallo for more than ten years.

Coming from Rome:
Take the A1 towards Florence exit to Orte go to E45 Perugia/Cesena 20 km after Perugia exit Ponte Pattoli. Turn left towards Casa del Diavolo. At the crossroads turn right and immediately left signposted Santa Cristina. After 8 km on the right hand side there is a restaurant "La Dolce Vita". A 100 meters further on turn left into the drive for the Locanda del Gallo

Coming from Florence:
Take the A1 towards Rome exit to Foiano della Chiana go direction Perugia. 20 km after Perugia exit Ponte Pattoli. Turn left towards Casa del Diavolo. At the crossroads turn right and immediately left signposted Santa Cristina. After 8 km on the right hand side there is a restaurant "La Dolce Vita". A 100 meters further on turn left into the drive for the Locanda del Gallo

Coming from Ancona:
Take the superstrada towards Fabriano. After Fossato di Vico take the exit signposted Gubbio. At Gubbio turn off towards Perugia. At Mengara (7 km from Gubbio) turn right towards Santa Cristina. After 11 km (before La Dolce Vita restaurant) turn sharp right signposted Locanda del Gallo.
