Tuckamore Lodge
Welcome to Tuckamore Lodge situated in the coastal community of Main Brook, Newfoundland. Charming lodge holiday accommodation in the heart of the Viking Trail. We are pleased to offer you luxury first-class, Scandinavian style accommodations in the heart of the Newfoundland wilderness, coupled with some of the highest quality outdoor experiences in Atlantic Canada.

Tuckamore Lodge is situated on the banks of Tuckamore Pond, fringed by a spruce forest which is home to a variety of animals both large and small. From the extensive decks of Tuckamore Lodge, enjoy the morning song of birds, the frantic activity of squirrels, and maybe observe a moose or two grazing on the fresh green grass.

Tuckamore Lodge is your holiday accommodation at the heart of where nature, history and culture connect, it's your home away from home. We take pride in introducing you to our region....historic fishing villages, world-famous cultural attractions and many natural wonders. Our coastal waters are home to numerous species of whales, an annual parade of 10,000-year-old icebergs and millions of seabirds. Our area is renowned for its abundant populations of moose, caribou and black bear, as well as rivers that teem with Atlantic Salmon and trout.

Main Brook is a hub for exploring the heritage trails this area has to offer including the famous Viking Trail which is the largest themed highway in Newfoundland and Labrador. The Grenfell Trail follows the footsteps of Sir Wilfred Grenfell, a medical doctor who had a major impact on the people of Northern Newfoundland, and Labrador.
The French Shore connects several coastal communities through the intriquing history of the European fishing crews who braved the North Atlantic waters each spring, to harvest the plentiful cod here.

The Tuckamore Lodge staff and I invite you to visit us and to experience the hospitality and exceptional outdoor experiences that have built Tuckamore's international reputation. We care about people, we take pride in our heritage and we do our best to ensure that you will have wonderful memories. Please choose one of the items to your left to begin your journey.

Barb Genge Thank you for helping make a great and special memory for our trip to beautiful Newfoundland. I called you on very short notice from the St.Anthony's area on Wednesday June 25th. and you arranged a Guide for a half-day over the telephone. I drove to your lodge from Cape Onion (Tickle Inn) arrived about 5pm. I met "Junior" and he took me out for a wonderful evening of Fishing----- I caught and landed my first Atlantic Salmon, it's been a dream for a long time, I'm sill on a high! Please thank Junior for waiting for me and creating such a great moment. If you get a chance would you send me some information about Fishing packages for summer 09 Regards Bernard

Dear Barb: The one week at Tuckamore Lodge gave us such great memories. You and your staff made us feel like family. The cooking that Peggy and her ladies did was a gourmet experience in itself. The uniqueness of Newfoundlands culture, environment, and history sets it apart from all of the other places we have visited. Please give a special thanks to Randy for repairing our flat tire. It was greatly appreciated. Your place was enchanting and truely made us feel relaxed and rejuvinated. Thank you for such a wonderful time. Linda

Hi Thank you so much for posting Hannah's felt purse back to us in the UK which she left behind when we departed on the 20th, she was delighted to have it back. Thank you too for giving us such a lovely break. We really enjoyed our stay with you - a haven. We loved being able to paddle and swim in the lake and the food was just delicious. It was great to be able to chat to fellow travellers over meals. Everyone wherever we went was just so helpful and friendly, we are missing the beauty and space of Newfoundland. Hannah and Scott were thrilled with their viking presents you gave them. Thank you so much for everything. Clare, Glen, Hannah and Scott Bamforth

Hello, Barb. Just wanted to let you know that we enjoyed our stay with you. You have such a lovely place there. The food was excellent as well. The girls wanted to thank you again for the necklaces that you gave them and also the book. This is one of their favorite things from Newfoundland. You and your staff were a great asset to our vacation. Once again thank you for all your kindness. I have one other question....we noticed a bell on the front of the lodge that read "Titanic". What is the story behind that bell? Once again thank you! The Waughs and The Stricklands

Hello I am one of the 4 people you so kindly served coffee and cake to last week when we drove down to view your lodge. I just wanted to say thank you and that we found right through the province this wonderful feeling of welcome. Your lodge has been discussed amongst the 4 of us as a place to visit our next run at NL and we will definitely mention it to friends and business associates who will be visiting your lovely province. Hi Barb, Just a note to thank you and your staff for the excellent service and friendly atmosphere that you provided during our brief stay at your lodge in early August. Each of the twelve of us were enthralled by the beauty of your site and the fantastic service that you offered. The meals were fantastic! We wish our stay could have been longer and I can assure you that we will be returning at some future date. Dennis

Barb, Our whole family enjoyed staying with you more than any other place we visited. We only wish we could have extended our vacation for a while longer. Your lodge is wonderful, your hospitality is incredible, and everyone there is so nice. It was so relaxing to stay in a place that was so comfortable and to make so many new friends. The kids have been asking when we can go back again. I hope that we will be able to travel to Newfoundland and stay with you again someday soon. The kids enjoyed it so much that they keep asking me if I can find a job there! Thank you again for everything you did for us. You were so accommodating with our moving back and forth and changing our plans. Mike

When I first saw your notice regarding B&B for Vets, I never realized just what a wonderful experience I would have in accepting this invitation. Going through the list of available B&Bs in our province, we selected Barb's Tuckammore Lodge because of its location and after a 5 hour drive north, we were not disappointed. It is nestled in a pristine region surrounded by wilderness and rugged beauty with the buildings of wood logs fitting so naturally into the landscape. The sauna, jacuzzi, comfortable surroundings, supportive and caring staff and another highlight was the food - exquisitely prepared by Peggy, provides us with memories we shall always remember. Barb's generous gift of hosting us for two nights is something that I feel should be recognized and I hope other veterans across this country will have had similar experiences. To each and everyone involved with this, thank you for your assistance and generosity. Captain Stephen Ransier (ret)
