David and Mieke Martin welcome you to their Lunenburg style home which dates back to 1868 and was built by George Young the grandson of Andreas Jung, an ardent Lutheran who, at the age of 22 emigrated from the German village of Litzelind to Nova Scotia in 1750.
Century House, in the fishing community of Blandford, lies at the head of the Aspotogan Peninsula on the South Shore overlooking the waters of Mahone Bay and the Tancook Islands.
Open May thru October this comfortable home displays original art and is tastefully furnished for the comfort of its guests and offers three ocean view rooms all with private bathrooms. The nightly rate for a room with a queen size bed and three piece bathroom ensuite is C$105.00, no tax, and includes a cooked breakfast.
David and Mieke have been operating Century House since 1998, Mieke her pottery and David the B & B.
Mieke emmigrated to Nova Scotia with her family from Holland in the mid fifties through Pier 21, now a museum in Halifax.
Mieke has been a professional potter for over 25 years after moving to Ontario with David who had accepted a position managing a resort in Muskoka. Mieke is the recipient of many awards in Ontario and Nova Scotia and offers a wide variety of one-of-a-kind functional and whimsical stoneware for the house and garden.
David, originally from England, has been in the hospitality industry for over 45 years 25 of which were spent in commercial and resort hotel administration with the balance as an owner operator.
