At Mountain View Lodge
We live at the "Reef and Rain forest Coast" in "Tropical North Queensland" - approximately 60 km north of Cairns and 15 km south of Port Douglas. It is a very convenient point to explore the surroundings with their world famous natural wonders like day trips into the World Heritage Park of the Daintree Rain forest, snorkel or dive the Great Barrier Reef, circle the Atherton Tablelands, have a ride amidst the tree tops of the rain forest on the Kuranda Skyrail, watch the crocodiles in the wilderness of the Daintree River and much more.
If you come back after a full day of experiences into Mountain View Lodge our swimming pool area awaits you for relaxation in tranquil tropical surroundings. Take the opportunity to barbecue your own meals. Our bungalows are also equipped with two single beds side by side (equals a king bed), lounge, table, chairs, TV, microwave, fridge, toaster, kettle, dishes and cutlery. Last, but not least, we would like to say that we would love to share our little paradise for a few days or weeks in the year with nature lovers.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2011 1 person found this review helpful We came to the Cairns region for some diving and to visit Daintree national park. Mountain View lodge was the perfect place / base for us, close to Port Douglas and daintree national park. After a full day diving or bush walks it was very nice to come back to Mountain View Lodge to chill in the pool and cook some food in our 'outside kitchen'. The place is very well maintained and the owners Walter and Rita are very friendly and helpful people. Rita helped us book some trips and Walter knows a lot about the area and wildlife. Would definitely come here again! Stayed December 2011, traveled as a couple “Quiet, relaxing, yet close to the excitement - just perfect!”

“'Perfect Home Base for Exploring Queensland Coast'” 5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2012 We stayed here for four days, right after arriving in Australia in December. It was absolutely perfect. The grounds are like a tropical paradise (the pool is amazing) and the bungalow is clean, comfortable and well-stocked and Walter and Rita are ideal hosts. Rita sat down with us for about a half hour when we arrived, going through brochures and giving us tips on how best to use our time, given our interests. Her advice was invaluable. She and Walter are also very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of their grounds and the surrounding area. The location couldn't be better, as long as you have a car. All in all, Mountain View Lodge is a perfect place to stay -- for a relaxing getaway or as a home-base for exploring the region. My only regret is that we didn't stay longer. Should we ever return to Queensland, I wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else. “Value for money”

Mountain lodge was an ideal place for us all to stay in comfort and with enough privacy to feel totally relaxed. It is position just out of Port Douglas (about 15 mins drive) to feel away from the hub of tourists but close enough to pop in for supplies via the supermarket as well as access to some restaurants. Rita & Walter were excellent hosts providing good local knowledge about all the activities you want to do as well as advising the places/activities to avoid. Great advice given and taken up. The house had everything we needed and the gardens are lovely to stroll around taking in the many birds surrounding the house. The pool was a lovely place to relax and we always had it to ourselves, even though there were other guests staying. One day we had a trip to the reef snorkeling and Rita arranged it all and the bus from Calypso picked us up from outside our door. The owner of Calypso is a neighbour of Walter & Ritas! Great service. Prior to arriving, Walter & Rita were very help
